certain rooms just feel cooler than they should, like the heat is slipping out through some secret escape hatch or something, I checked for drafts around the doors and windows, added weatherstripping, even did the old candlestick test along the baseboards but still, there are spots where you I feel the chill creeping in. I dont know if it could be the attic insulation. How can I do a proper deep dive into tracking down heat loss? do I use thermal cameras, blower door tests, or just the good old fashioned detective work? or maybe I should just bring in the pros but that's billing for me

You can get a thermal camera from places like Home Depot or hardware stores and try it at night when it’s colder outside to spot where heat’s sneaking out. Blower door tests help too, but they’re usually something pros handle. Any idea what kind of insulation you’ve got up in the attic or when it was last looked at?

no need to buy if it's just for a little check. You can rent a thermal camera (or a cheap attachment for your phone) from a tool rental place for a day. Scan the ceiling and walls on a cold day when the heat is running. Cold spots that aren't windows scream missing insulation, especially where walls meet the ceiling
