Attic insulation project before winter

Finally ready to add more insulation to my attic but we're already getting cold nights around new england area. Is it too late in the season to tackle this or should I just wait until spring the attic currently has maybe R 19 and I want to bring it up to R 49. I feel fairly confident about this but I'm mostly worried about working conditions up there when it's freezing, and whether I'll run into moisture issues doing it now. Can I do attic insulation this period or its better to just accept higher heating bills this winter and do it in April?

You can absolutely add insulation now, and it's better to do it in the cold season to stop heat loss this winter
the key is to air seal thoroughly first, and moisture issues are more about preventing warm, humid house air from entering the cold attic (which proper sealing fixes), not the cold itself, though you need good ventilation to handle any existing moisture from the house
don't wait until spring
