Did an attic inspection this morning on my dad's house I insulated back in 2017 with blown cellulose, and thought I'd share what I found for anyone tracking long term performance
The original install was to 15 inches targeting R50, so I made marks on a few joists at the time just out of curiosity and today it's sitting at around 12.5 inches across the entire attic. What I find interesting anyway is that it looks like most of that settling happened in the first year or two based on some photos I took during HVAC service call in 2019. Since then it's been very much okay at that depth, although a little additional compression but no gaps forming along the perimeter, whoops proud moment
Did a test probe in a few spots too and there was a little sagging at one corner of the wall but its nothing too much
Makes me feel pretty good about the prep work we did accounting for that initial settling
