Impact noise is my nemesis

Did everything right by the rockwool insulation, double drywall with green glue, sealed all the penetrations, now the airborne noise is way better and thankfully I can't hear the TV anymore but footsteps? still driving me crazy. Every step sounds like someone dropping bowling balls. I guess I needed to address it from the floor above, not the ceiling below. $4,000 lesson learned. sigh

Oof, sorry to hear that. Your $4k wasn't completely wasted! You've got a fantastic barrier against music and talking now, which is huge! For the footsteps, the next step is talking to your upstairs neighbor about installing an acoustic underlayment beneath their flooring or maybe a floating floor system if they're open to it. That should be a real impact-noise killer!

Yo @slvr22_bd all that rockwool and green glue helps with voices and TV, but footsteps transfer directly through the structure. is there any chance you can add something to the floor above now? Even just thick carpet with good padding can make a noticeable difference

Yep, footsteps always find a way. Thick carpet or a proper underlayment above will make a bigger dent than anything you did below.
