Seen different opinions about closed cell spray foam in attics and it seems like climate zone makes a huge difference?

You are right, climate zone makes a big difference with closed cell spray foam. In colder climates, it works well as both insulation and an air barrier, helping keep heat in. In hotter, humid climates, proper ventilation and moisture management become more important to avoid trapped moisture.
